Shooting Sports and Wildlife Conservation 

The purpose of the Ashe County Wildlife Club is to promote good sportsmanship, safe use of firearms and other sporting equipment and conservation of wildlife. It is their further purpose to cooperate with local and federal agencies in the protection and restoration of the natural, ecological environment.

Here are a few of the most common answers to questions that arise from new Members: 1. No shooting is allowed before 12:00 on Sundays. 2. No shooting at rifle range is allowed before 9:00 a.m. 3. No hunting is allowed on club property. 4. You should place targets so there is a backstop or berm behind them. 5. No unattended children are allowed anytime or anywhere on club property. 6. No bolts open or out when anyone is downrange. 7. No shotgun shot is allowed larger than 7 1/2.

Welcome to Claybreakers 5-Stand Sporting 
Clays Course A 5-Stand is a course consisting of five different stations and each shooter can shoot five different target presentations. A full round consists of 25 targets. To challenge all shotgun enthusiasts, Claybreakers currently offers six traps, and each one has its own ever changing presentation.

It's open to the public, and no membership is required. Both beginners and seasoned enthusiasts are welcome to come for a day of practice or contact Claybreakers to reserve the range for your own event. The cost is $8/round, that is 25 targets.

Springs Road Gun Club is a shooting range in Hickory, NC. The pistol and rifle range fee is $20. It is currently servicing Statesville, Morganton, Hickory and surrounding areas. The range is state approved and equipped for Security firearms and Law Enforcement qualifications.

Permitted Firearms include handguns: .22 cal up to .50 cal, shotguns: 410, 20, 16 & 12 gauge, rifles: .17, .22 & .223 ONLY (call for .223 restrictions), and carbines: 9mm, .40 cal, & .45 cal ONLY. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 12pm – 8pm, Sat 12pm – 6pm and Sunday 2pm – 6pm

Their goal is to allow people the opportunity to enjoy shooting by visiting their facilities, which includes a 50,000 square foot  shotgun range, 30 target 3D bow range, practice bag range and twenty target 3D coon range.
